Schultz Family Christmas Letter 1989

RONALD & SANDRA SCHULTZ

1/1/90

PERHAPS TODAY...!..the Lord Jesus will come again to meet His redeemed in the air; that would make 1990 special for more reason than receiving the Schultz '89 Christmas letter' in 1990.

Mark is teaching John 101 uses for toothpaste while Mark is finding 101 uses for snow. Ah...the boys hardly ever do anything wrong any more; its always "Joy" or "Not Me". Joy says no when she means yes -- but I think that's normal for girls (Ron).

We took time these last weeks to meditate on our Lord's first coming, including to hear past Lutheran Pulpit announcer Bro Bill Schultz narrate the Christmas story at the Faith Lutheran Church Christmas Pageant/Sing. We hope you took time to think on God's Great Gift to mankind too. Some other notes from our 1989 include:

The boys buy pizza for us when Sandy says we're having spaghetti for supper.

Ron's sister Karen went to work at U S Army Tank Automotive Command Aug. 14 where she runs the switchboard. Her Husband Joe is again on medical leave.

Ron and the boys (PMJ) removed the stump from the driveway and John, Sandy and Ron layed 1.25 yard of concrete there. The boys also stained the new fence. Ron added a gate at the back of the garage so Mark built a ladder to climb over it! Ron replaced the dishwasher with a Whirlpool. We put in a garden (Bro John did most of the work, rototilling spring and fall) and the boys saw the truth of Jesus words about weeds choking out the grain; we did harvest a few ears of corn, two pumpkins and some lettuce. In October the boys were in pumpkin heaven at the Mustache club with Ron & Bill & Mom: Ron's cousin Joe had a pile of pumpkins for deer feed!

Christine, tho living out by Mt. Clemens, is active with Epiphany Church young adults, and sometimes gives us a reprieve from our four not-so-adult youths. Ron's nephew Little Joe is getting A's in Tool and Die school and paid by AETNA Industries to boot.

Last February, Sandy's winter trip to Lawrenceville, IL, to see Mom and Dad Vandermark was also just in time to see all the high school basketball tournaments. Much to Dad's satisfaction, Bridgeport (aka Red Hill) had its best season in years. In May Ron made a few more points with Mom V. by getting phone jacks wired in both of her bedrooms there.

After 15 years of reaching out with the Gospel to all within the range of our voice, due to budget cuts at Epiphany, the Lutheran Pulpit -- for which Ron was announcer -- went off the air. Paul did announce one broadcast! This fall Ron joined the teaching staff at Warwick Hills Christian Academy and the boys studied phonics, Bible memory, arithmetic, geography, political science, physics, and (off campus) swimming. Ron also received his first promotion in the Water Dept. after 9 years works downtown and vanpools with his boss, Mr. Talwalker.

In November, Sis Judy left the Union League Club of Chicago to go to work at Northwestern University, where she's thinking of pursuing a Masters in America's vacationlands. In July, we six "stayed" with her in her Chicago apartment, and saw the Museum of Science and Industry; then she took the boys to the Lincoln Park Zoo while we three went to the Kenosha, Wisconsin, 2nd reception of the Kurt Dreger there, and now wedding (Brother Bill and Mom went to the June 3 wedding -- way far west in NW Wisconsin); No Schultz went to Keenan Dreger's late winter wedding.

PMJ know Bible verses from A to Z (All have sinned...Zion heard and was glad).

On our way to Judy's, We six also saw the Jackson, Michigan, Space Museum.

Sandy, John, Joy, and Christine (Ron's niece) walked the Mackinac Bridge on Labor Day as did 40 other Michigan Lutherans for Life. This was the fifth time for Sandy and it was the best weather ever, but the biggest crowd (70,000) too!! The whole family is going next year, so let us know if you want to join us! Sandy stacked the bunk beds so now the boys can all three sleep either up or down! and since she did it while Ron (with bro Bill) was up at the Men's retreat at RKD, Paul was able to fall off the top bunk before his dad came home and put up a retaining board.

Sandy's bro John is making more and more extensive modifications, including rewiring, to his house in now trendy downtown Royal Oak.

He and his sister Cindy went to the Rose Bowl last year to cheer on Michigan (excuuuuse me, Cindy didn't root for Bo), and Cindy did the same this New Year's (She's cheered by Bo's retirement). You never know when you will find Cindy at home. Besides going to Pasadena last New Year, she went to Prince Edward Island in October, took a hot air balloon ride, stopped in Toronto, flew to New York, went to Chicago and made several trips to see Mom and Dad V in S. Illinois.

Sandy was elected V P of pro-life group Lutherans for Life of Michigan in October.

Ron rewired and redecorated in boys' room after Sandy stripped it of wallpaper. It is now camino blue.

Finally, there were no births or deaths in Schultz or Vandermark families in 1989! As we look toward Jesus' second advent may this year of our Lord 1990 be for you all a year of broad blessing, fretless faith, and heavenly hope.

Ron and Sandy attended an excellent seminar in November put on by the Institute for Creation Research. If you don't believe in the 6-day creation, they will make believers out of you. The seminar appears around the country, and we highly recommend it. We had 362 trick or treaters at our door, who each received a children's pro-life tract and a gospel tract.

Ron, Sandy, Paul, Mark, John, and Joy
